What is Safe to be Flushed Down Your Toilet(s)

RCI Septic Service • March 23, 2023

Only human waste and white toilet paper should be flushed down the toilet.

You should avoid flushing tissues, any type of wipe (flushable, baby, make-up, cleaning, etc.) feminine hygiene products, condoms, medication (pills or liquid), hair, dental floss, cat litter, etc. down the toilet.

Items that say “flushable” are not good for your septic system. Any item other than human waste and toilet paper will not break down properly and can lead to sewer back-ups and blockages in the septic tank. If you have any questions about what to flush down your toilet, feel free to contact us at 603-432-4840.
